For something more dramatic, Washington Oaks Gardens State Park opens at 8am, but the coquina rock shoreline just outside the park boundary is accessible earlier. The ancient rock formations catch the first light in a way that feels almost otherworldly. It's a short walk from the parking area and absolutely worth the early alarm.
The Palm Coast Linear Park Trail
If you'd rather stay close to the house, Palm Coast's Linear Park trail system winds through the city's canal network and is beautiful in the early morning. The trail is paved, dog-friendly, and well-lit. You'll see herons, egrets, and the occasional dolphin in the canals.
