Drive-On Beach Packing List for Palm Coast, Crescent Beach & Daytona

Driving onto Florida's beaches is one of the best coastal experiences you can have — especially with a Jeep. Whether you're heading to Daytona Beach, Crescent Beach, or New Smyrna, the right gear makes the difference between a good day and a great one.

Using the Jeep's Cargo Rack

The Rubicon comes with a cargo rack stored in the garage at the house. It mounts to the rear of the Jeep and holds chairs, a cooler, a beach umbrella, and a bag of gear without taking up any cab space. Load it the night before so you can roll out early without any fuss.

How to Load the Cargo Rack

The rack attaches to the Jeep's rear hitch receiver. Bungee cords and tie-down straps are stored with the rack in the garage. Stack heavier items (cooler, chairs) on the bottom and lighter items (bags, umbrella) on top. Secure everything tightly — highway speeds and beach access ramps will test your rigging.

Beach Safety Tips for Drive-On Areas

Stay on the hard-packed sand near the waterline — soft sand higher up the beach can bog down any vehicle. Reduce tire pressure to 20-25 PSI for better traction on soft sections. Speed limit on Daytona Beach is 10 mph and it's enforced. No beach driving after dark. Keep your drive-on permit visible on the dashboard at all times.
